چکیده

Introduction: Bloodstream infections (BSI) are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality around the world. In terms appropriate therapeutic options, antimicrobial drug resistance among bacterial pathogens is major source concern. The purpose this study was to provide local information on antibiotic patterns in Faghihi Hospital located Shiraz, Southwest Iran. Methods: frequency antibiogram blood culture isolates were studied from January 2018 December 2019. For antibacterial susceptibility testing, disk diffusion method used, which met standard criteria Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) Performance for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing 28th edition. Results: During period, 576 (9.7%) 5935 cultures tested positive. Gram positive bacteria made up 340 (59.1%) cultures, while gram negative 236 (40.9%). S. aureus most common isolate (26.2%), followed by epidermidis (15.1%) E. coli (14.2%). Vancomycin effective against bacteria, but no available bacteria. Amikacin isolates, Imipenem P. aeruginosa isolates. Conclusion: Our findings suggest emphasize importance observing that affect empirical therapy infection control methods yearly basis monitoring patterns.

Antibiotic Resistance of the Isolated Bacteria from Blood Cultures of Cancer Patients

Abstract Background and Objective: One of the main causes of increased mortality in cancer patients is bacteremia. On the other hand, antibiotic resistance is the major cause of treatment failure in malignant diseases especially in hematological malignancies. The aim of this study was to diagnose the bacterial strains isolated from blood specimens of cancer patients and to determine their antib...
